Get set to Good health
Come winter and it's a lazy season everywhere. People
prefer spending time at home because of the cold weather
outside. They watch TV, sleep, read or spend time with
friends at home. No exercise and more food make a healthy
man, unhealthy. A survey
conducted on 5000 people found out that 30% of them stay
out of any fitness
activities during cold months.
Just because it's cold, you shouldn't allow yourself
to stay out of walking
or running
and thus put on weight. Do simple exercises; inspire
yourself to do a little more everyday. However, be careful
while working out. You are prone to injuries and muscle
cramps during this time. So note down these tips if
you are really looking forward to a health conscious
winter.
Ways to work out
Get warm first
Cold temperatures can make your body stiff and more
prone to injuries and cramps. So don't start jogging
immediately. But, warm up your body. Let the blood circulate
well. And slowly begin jogging after a brisk walk.
Insulate your body
Cover your body wearing different layers of clothes.
It warms up your body fast. It also allows you to remove
the top layer of clothing if it gets hot.
Sweating
You don't have to sweat to lose
weight. Try to avoid sweating which would wet your
cloth that is closest to your body. Monitor your intensity
through a Heart rate
monitor.
You shouldn't strip as soon as you get inside
Never do this. It will put your body through
extremes. Give it time to adjust to the weather inside
and keep out of cold and fever.
Drink plenty of water
Though you might not experience summer thirsts in winter
it is important to drink water in plenty. Don't dehydrate
yourself.
If you are still not confident of taking those winter
walks or exercises outside, get addicted to some indoor
activities, which could help you similarly.
Take a walk indoors
Go to a mall. Walk in indoor stadiums or courts and
burn those calories,
which will make you fit in winter.
Join a health club
You won't be alone. Joining a health club is inspiring
because you can force yourself to compete with the people
around and thus help burn some extra calories in the
process. Also, you will have a trainer to guide you
into the kind of workouts you should follow for significant
weight loss.
Create a home gym
It's not an expensive affair anymore. You can easily
set up a gym with a set of dumbbells, exercise balls
and a jump rope. And you could get all this done in
just 50 dollars.
Climbing the stairs
One of the best ways to stay healthy is to climb up
and down the stairs for half an hour. It is an intense
and efficient work out.
Go swimming
If you know swimming, you don't have to look around
for a gym or stadium. Water aerobics and swimming are
equally efficient methods
to lose weight. Even if you are not an expert in swimming,
you can try walking or running laps in water.
So, if you have already been missing winter workouts,
get set to start fresh. Don't lose your strength and
stamina because of inactivity. Your body needs pampering
all through out the year. And there is no better way
to an active life than following a good diet and a healthy
work out regime.
