A Conference on Obesity Surgery
in Bahrain

A medical conference on general surgery, colon, and
breast and obesity surgery was conducted yesterday at
the Crowne Plaza in Bahrain. The 15th Arab Surgeons
Society conference and First Bahrain Surgeons Society
conference was opened by Health Minister Dr Nada Haffadh.
The conference was supported by His Majesty King Hamad
and was held under the patronage of Prime Minister Sheikh
Khalif bin Salman Al Khalifa.
Surgeons from Bahrain, GCC, Europe and the US attended
the event, as well as officials from the Royal College
of Surgeons, Ireland, and the European Surgical Society.
The highlight of the conference was surgery. It featured
live transmissions of surgical operations from the Salmaniya
Medical Complex and Germany, computer training for a
medical cadre program and the presentation of around
150 scientific papers.
