Kids getting fat? Two reasons: Eating the wrong foods
and absence of physical activity
In today's world of aggressive marketing and advertising,
the obesity epidemic has webbed a majority of the community
with a fattening problem.
With advertisements promoting foods that have a low
nutritious value; children have become more prone to
this unhealthy movement.
Following are few tips to ensure that children control
their eating habits and opt for healthy foods:
1. Don't buy junk foods, even for yourself
2. Have fruits and vegetables cut and ready to eat.
3. Allow your child to select a new "healthy"
food to try.
However, nutritionists' advice that simply controlling
eating habits and the quality of food may not be enough
until there is a regular physical activity.
A parent may follow these tips to encourage kids adopt
an active daily routine:
1. Reward good behavior with trips to the park rather
than snacks
2. Engage your entire family in regular physical activity.
Start by taking walks after dinner.
3. Set limits on the amount of television your family
watches.
4. Limit computer games and time on the Internet
Though infrequent consumption of junk food is acceptable,
care must be taken to identify this usual pattern and
implement steps to change it, for better.
