School
Helps Kids Lose Weight
May 06, 2005
The Academy of the Sierras is the nation's first boarding
school for obese kids. And it has already begun paying
off the students.
According to 16-year-old Terry Henry, "Once you
start getting results, you start saying, hey this is
actually working out for me. Maybe it isn't so bad."
Terry Henry weighed 558 pounds when he checked into
the academy. In the last eight months, he has lost 207
pounds.
On average, each student at the school has dropped about
90 pounds.
Collectively, the 36 kids enrolled have literally lost
a ton of weight.
Because of Henry's success, the academy now requires
everyone to take a culinary arts course.
