Weight Loss Linked to Sensitive Nose
May 27, 2005
The rising Obesity
Epidemic has grown to a big concern all over the world.
And the HealthCare industry is busy findings various
alternatives
and solutions towards its resolve.
In these events, a new solution has been theorized
and recommended now.
An American psychiatrist and neurologist, Alan Hirsch
has been promoting his belief that pleasant smells such
as banana, green apple and peppermint can help shed
kilos.
It is also claimed that the combined aroma of lavender
and pumpkin pie enhances penile flow and a mixed floral
scent improves a child learning ability.
This theory is based on an observational study of more
than 3000 overweight
Americans who used the inhalers for six months in the
mid-1990s when they felt hungry.
The study observed that those who had a good sense
of smell, who used the inhalers frequently, ate 2-4
meals a day, and who felt bad about over-eating, but
didn't feel bad about themselves, lost 2 per cent of
body weight a month.
Researchers are still unsure why & how the smells
worked in some people.
"Maybe the odors induce weight loss by acting
as a displacement mechanism so instead of grabbing the
donut, they grabbed the inhaler," experts speculate.
