Weight Loss Benefits Mother and The Unborn Child
November 11, 2005
Weight loss can be of immense benefit for both mother and the child. Weight control attained before pregnancy keeps the mother and the baby away from any sort of risks associated with pregnancy. An obese woman is more likely to develop complications during pregnancy such as gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes which can prove life threatening at times.
Over weight women are more likely to give birth through caesarian section. Babies born out of them are more likely to be born premature and to suffer from debilitating neural tube defects such as spina bifida. They are also more likely to turn obese when they grow up. Therefore it's very essential to control the weight before opting for motherhood as it can prove beneficial both for the mother and the unborn child and keep them away from obesity.
